Overview
The Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care is a competence based qualification which has been developed with Skills for Care and in consultation with employers who provide adult care. Designed to support the on- programme element of the Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship standard in England, the qualification covers the knowledge and skills required to work in a lead adult care worker role in a range of settings and supporting individuals with different needs. The qualification contains units which are competence based and several knowledge based units.
Course content:
The qualification is built on credit values and each unit has a credit rating and to achieve the QCF NVQ Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 learners must complete a total of 58 credits, which includes 9 mandatory units along with a choice of optional knowledge and competence units.
The qualification is aimed at lead adult care workers, support workers and key workers in a range of adult care settings. The qualification can be used both within and outside of an apprenticeship standard.
The qualification is structured in a way which means that all learners will have to complete a group of mandatory units, the content of which is required across any lead adult care role. In addition there is a wide range of optional units to support areas of specialism, including:
To achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care learners must achieve a minimum of 58 credits. Out of the total 58 credits 43 credits must be at level 3 and above.
Entry Requirements:
The course is open to everyone. However, candidates must be employed in a workplace relevant to the occupational standards for Health and Social Care to enable them to complete the qualification successfully. Basic skills at level 1 is recommended.
Method of assessment:
Assessment takes place through evaluation of work-based performance, presenting evidence, witness testimony and questioning. A portfolio of evidence is produced which demonstrates that the candidate can perform to the level described.
