Initial Verification & Certification of Electrical Installations

Overview

The course is aimed at practicing electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going on to other City and Guilds qualifications. It is also aimed at those with limited experience in periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations.

Course contents
It covers the following areas: Safe isolation of electric circuits and installations Initial verification of electrical installations Inspection of electrical installations prior to being put into service Safe testing and commissioning of electrical installations Tests required before installations are energised Testing energised installations Completing electrical installation certificates and the associated documentations Safety of systems and equipment prior to completion of inspection, testing and commissioning Testing of electrical installations prior to being put into service Commissioning of electro-technical systems and equipment.

 

Method of Assessment
At the end of the course, you will need to pass three assessments in order to be awarded the Level 3 Award in Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations. The assessments are as follows:

1. Unit 301 – On-Line multiple choice assessment testing the Principles, practices and legislation for initial verification of electrical installations

2. Unit 302 – Written assessment on the Principles, practice and legislation for initial verification of electrical installations.

3. Unit 303 – Practical assignment of the Principles, practices and legislation for initial verification of electrical installations.

 

Entry Requirements
Candidates must hold a valid 17th Edition certificate. Ideally, it is recommended for candidates to have some have experience in inspection & testing of installations. Candidates who have successfully completed the City & Guilds 2392 qualification and obtained some experience in inspection & testing subsequently are also eligible. In addition, commitment and hard work are essential.

 

Qualification
Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification and Certification of Electrical Installations.

 

Duration of course
It takes 4-days to complete the training, and mode of attendance is 1-day/week for 4 weeks. Assessments are scheduled after the course.
