Level 3 Diploma in Gas Utilisation

Overview

These Diplomas have been designed for the Gas installation industry and will enable learners to apply for Gas Safe Registration and work in the UK, Isle of Man and Guernsey. To achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Gas Utilisation: Technical Installation Engineer learners must achieve 145 credits from the following mandatory units:

Course content:

  • Unit 201 – Tightness test, purge, commission and de-commission gas pipework up to 35mm (1 ¼) diameter in small natural gas
  • Installations
  • Unit 208 – Understand the principles and operation of the Green Deal
  • Unit 209 – Understand the use of Energy Efficiency measures on different buildings
  • Unit 210 – Understand insulation and building treatment methods
  • Unit 211 – Understand air quality and ventilation requirements for buildings
  • Unit 301 – Understanding health and safety in gas utilisation
  • Unit 302 – Understanding scientific principles in gas utilisation
  • Unit 303 – Understanding combustion and properties of gas
  • Unit 304 – Understanding buildings, services and structures
  • Unit 305 – Understand gas safety
  • Unit 308 – Specific core installation and maintenance
  • Unit 311 – Install domestic gas water heaters and wet central heating appliances
  • Unit 313 – Install, commission and de-commission gas pipework up to 35mm (1 ¼) diameter in domestic and small commercial
    premises
  • Unit 322 – Water compulsory core unit
  • Unit 328 – Water supply ‘Water Fittings’ Regulations and Water Byelaws in the UK
  • Unit 329/330 – The installation, commissioning and safety aspects of hot water systems for domestic us in accordance with UK
    building regulations
  • Unit 207/277 – deliver of effective customer service

 

Appliances:

Completion of this Qualification Combination will enable Gas Registration in the following categories: CCN1, CENTWAT 1, CPA, MET1/2, CoNGLP1 PD and registered as a competent person for Building Regulations G3 (Hot Water Supplies and systems)

 

Entry Requirements:

No former entry requirements needed for this course. However, learners are recommended to have basic skills at Level 2

 

Method of assessment:

Assessments are carried out via; online exams, practical and theory assessment and work place assessment
